VIWMA Tells Lagoon Street Residents It Will Try To Fix Broken Sewage Main Tomorrow

FREDERIKSTED The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) said that a force main break occurred at the Lagoon Street pump station near the St. Patrick School occurred at about 1:30 p.m. today.

“The pump station has been taken offline while preparations to execute repairs commence,” VIWMA Executive Director Roger Merritt, Jr. said.

Merritt said said his “staff and contractors” will try to fix the broken main sometime tomorrow.

“The Authority will continue to keep the community abreast of repair progress,” he said.

Traffic will not be impacted, as berms will be placed in the area to reduce any environmental impacts, according to VIWMA.

Residents with impacted immune systems or respiratory conditions are asked to avoid the area until repairs are complete, the Authority said.

The VIWMA thanks the community for their cooperation and patience.
