Kirwan Terrace Residents Get Free Boxes Of Food From The Virgin Islands Police Department

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Christmas season is the time for giving.

And Police Commissioner Trevor A. Velinor and the Virgin Islands Police Department continued that tradition this weekend by providing boxes of food to needy residents.

Commissioner Velinor himself was in the spirit of giving Saturday at Michael J. Kirwan Terrace where free boxes of food were distributed to housing residents.

Police Captain Sandra Colbourne and her team at the Crime Prevention Bureau spearheaded the VIPD event on Saturday.

Commissioner Velinor and members of the VIPD Zone Patrol and Crime Prevention Bureau were in Kirwan Terrace spreading the joy of Christmas by distributing the packages of food to the residents Saturday morning.

“We are the community, and the community is us,” Velinor said.

Mostly, people were grateful for the generous assistance rendered by the dedicated professionals of the VIPD.

“Just want to say thank you to Capt. Sandra Colbourne from the seniors in Blue Water Crest Homeowners Association,” Selane Palmer-Thomas said. “We are a small community in the west. This was the first outreach program to actually come into our community and delivered fresh veggies, milk, and chicken to our senior residents. It was greatly appreciated. And again, thank you for everything.
