FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was arrested early Monday morning after police said he assaulted a woman — and took a cell phone and cash from her.
Christopher Carter, 35, of Coral Princesse condominiums, was arrested at 5:54 a.m. Monday and charged with first-degree assault-domestic violence, first-degree robbery and larceny, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“The female victim reported that on at about 12:41 that morning, Carter assaulted her, taking her mobile phone and cash,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The victim sustained injuries as a result.”
Carter was not offered bail in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence statutes, Derima said.
He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing, he said.
The news of Carter’s arrest was posted to Twitter at 9:08 a.m. today.
