CHARLOTTE AMALIE — An Arizona woman has been arrested on St. Thomas for allegedly stealing valuable property after police found a stolen item in her possession.
Michelyn Lespron, 35, of Phoenix was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Investigation revealed Lespron allegedly stole a mobile phone from her former employer in November of 2020,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said The phone was tracked to Lespron’s location, and when detectives asked about the stolen property, she produced the phone. Subsequently, Lespron was placed under arrest.
Lespron said on social media she works as a food server and bartender at a variety of restaurants in Charlotte Amalie.
“I do what I want,” is Lespron’s motto on her Facebook profile page.
Bail for Lespron was set at $20,000.00. Unable to post bail, she was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
The news of Lespron’s arrested was posted to Twitter at 5:23 a.m. today. She lives in Estate Frydenhoj on St. Thomas.
“When asked where the stolen item was, she removed it off her person and presented it to the VIPD Detectives,” the VIPD said on Twitter..
