FREDERIKSTED — Starting next month, police are promising “increased traffic enforcement” for the motoring public in the territory.
There will be increased traffic enforcement beginning February 1, 2021, please bring your vehicle into compliance before then,” the Virgin Islands Police Department said. “Violators WILL be cited. NO EXCEPTIONS!”
If you live on St. Croix, you know that a significant percentage of motorists drive every day on island without a license plate (front or back) on their vehicle, but police do nothing to stop them.
Apparently, that lax enforcement policy, which is symptomatic of the slack leadership at Government House, is making a change for the better — in favor of law and order.
“A fish stinks from the head — and this lack of traffic law enforcement on St. Croix has been permitted by the Bryan Roach Administration for at least two years — I wonder why the change all of a sudden?” one reader said on Facebook.
