Crown Bay Drainage Project Will Temporarily Close KFC Parking Lot On St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Department of Public Works said it will begin work on the Crown Bay drainage and pedestrian improvements project affecting Nisky Center on St. Thomas tomorrow morning.

DPW is advising the St. Thomas community that contractor Island Roads will temporarily barricade and close off KFC’s parking lot on Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for paving.

“During this time, customers will not have access to the front parking lot,” DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said. “Parking spaces in the back of Soap Opera Laundromat can be accessed during this time.”

The department is urging motorists and pedestrians to adhere to all traffic controls and respect signals from on-site flaggers on the roads.

Total estimated cost of the Crown Bay improvements project is: $2,816,949.

“The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory,” she said.
