JACKSONVILLE — The Florida/USVI Poison Information Center is announcing a new website for residents
of the U.S. Virgin Islands in conjunction with National Poison Prevention Week.
The new website can be found at usvipoisoncontrol.org and features information on home safety, outdoor hazards, as well as ways for residents to order free education materials and request a poison prevention education presentation.
“We are thrilled to launch a web presence for our friends in St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John,” Dr. Dawn Sollee, center director, said. “This vital resource will be available for residents 24 hours a day, just as we are at 1-800-222-1222.”
The new website is launched as National Poison Prevention Week approaches, March 21st through the 27th. National Poison Prevention Week is dedicated to educating the public on how to prevent and respond to a poisoning emergency.
“More than 90 percent of poisonings happen in the home so it is important to take the steps to keep your house and yard safe and save the poison control number in your phone in case of emergency,” Sollee said. “If you do suspect a poisoning, don’t take a chance — call 1-800-222-1222 right away.”
