VIWMA Repairs To Collapsed Sewer Line On Veteran's Drive Start Tonight: DPW

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Department of Public Works said work on a collapsed sewer line along Veteran’s Drive will start tonight..

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority will begin work today from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, DPW said.

“During work hours, traffic will be reduced to a single-lane heading East and a single-lane heading West. Work is expected to be completed by April 21,” DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said. “This closure will allow the contractor to replace the old cast iron sewer pipe with new PVC, replace the collapsed sewer manhole, and complete road surface restoration.”

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution when navigating in this area, Exius said.

“The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory,” she said.
