CHARLOTTE AMALIE — United States Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced today that Captain Sandra Colbourne and members of the VIPD Crime Prevention Bureau; representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative; Iffat Walker, Founder and Executive Director of Community Action NOW!; and Senator Dwayne M. DeGraff of the 34th Legislature of the Virgin Islands will participate in a Town Hall Meeting with the Savan Community next week.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Romeo Malone Community Center. The meeting is free and open to the public. Participation is also available via Zoom.
“Savan is a diverse community of native families, small business owners, and an aging population. We know that the citizens of Savan want and need access to resources to restore the community to its once vibrant history, ” Shappert said. “We look forward to hearing community members’ ideas and their concerns.”

Project Safe Neighborhoods is a nationwide initiative that brings together federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and community leaders to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in a community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
