All U.S. Virgin Islands Public Schools Closed Tomorrow Due To Anticipated Bad Weather

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — All Virgin Islands Department of Education schools, in addition to the Virgin Islands Virtual Academy Program, will be closed tomorrow due to the remnants of Hurricane Fiona moving through the region.

In order to assess and prepare schools for possible reopening on Tuesday, September 20, the following essential employees are required to report to work on Monday, September 19:

•         Food Service Workers

•         Custodians

•         Maintenance Workers

•         School Administrative Teams

All state and district employees are also required to report to their workstations on September 19.

School open houses scheduled for the week of September 19-23 are postponed; rescheduled dates will be announced.

The Department of Education will provide additional updates on its operations as weather conditions change. Updates will be issued via email, Facebook, and through local media outlets.
