CRUZ BAY — Police are investigating after three armed men stormed an unsuspecting husband and wife in St. John on Friday night, the VIPD reported on social media Monday.
Detectives learned that a home invasion took place in Estate Bethany on St. John at 10:30 p.m. Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
”A Caucasian male and female entered the Leander Jurgen Command located in Cruz Bay, St. John, Virgin Islands. at approximately 7:01 a.m. Saturday to report that on Friday, September 30, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., three males entered their residence with guns,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.
“The victims stated that the males forced them onto the floor and bounded them demanding valuables,” the police spokesman said. “The male stated, he was assaulted by one of the male’s causing injury. The male and female stated that the males then ransacked their apartment and fled in an unknown direction.”
Some folks on social media were wondering why the victims waited to call police until the next day.
“Just curious why they waited until the next morning to report the invasion and not call 911 immediately? Stephanie McKinnerney said from St. Thomas.”
The case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
