Man Shot Once On Main Street In St. Thomas Dies An Hour Later At Schneider Hospital

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating after a man was found shot once and dying on Main Street in St. Thomas late last night.

Jasim Denver Thompson, 35, died less than an hour later at the St. Thomas hospital, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

A concerned citizen called 911 and reported seeing a black male lying on the ground in the area of lower Kronprindsens Gade at 8:48 p.m. Thursday, according to the VIPD.

The concerned citizen also reported that the male appeared to have sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, and the male appeared to be slipping in and out of consciousness, police said.

Responding officers and Emergency Medical Technicians traveled to the area of Lower Kronprindsens Gade and found Thompson on the sidewalk. Emergency Medical Technicians began life saving efforts and transported the male to the Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

But Thompson ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Schneider Hospital 9:32 p.m., according to police.
