Suspect In Custody After Fight Leads To Shooting At Emerald Beach Hotel: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A suspect is in custody today after a fight at Emerald Beach Hotel lead to a shooting on Monday morning, authorities said.

Osie Ferguson, 42, of Charlotte Amalie, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon during a crime of violence, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, first-degree reckless endangerment, disturbance of the peace (fighting) and simple assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Officers from the Virgin Islands Port Authority were dispatched at 7:59 a.m. Monday to the Emerald Beach Hotel in reference to the fight in progress, according to the VIPD.

A preliminary investigation revealed that there was a person had been shot during a fight at the Lindbergh Bay-area hotel, police said.

The male gunshot victim was taken via EMS to the Schneider Regional Medical Center to receive further medical treatment, according to police.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Ferguson for the shooting in the area of Oswald Harris Court on Tuesday, according to VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte.

Bail for Ferguson was set at $200,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
