KINGSHILL — Police are investigating after an adult male called the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 9:55 a.m. Tuesday to report a break-in in progress, authorities said.
Jelani “Yellow” Ferdinand, 27, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Emergency Communication Center to report that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Jelani Ferdinand, was breaking into her apartment through the kitchen window, according to the VIPD.
“Investigation into this matter revealed that Mr. Ferdinand was armed with a green pocketknife upon entry,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said. “A physical altercation occurred between both individuals inside the residence and continued outside the apartment building.”
The victim stated that Ferdinand accused him of physically abusing his minor son, according to Dratte.
The victim sustained a laceration to his right index finger and a bruise to his left arm; however, he declined medical assistance. Ferdinand fled the scene operating a blue Toyota Yaris.
Ferdinand, age 27, turned himself into police and was arrested without incident on December 1, 2022. He was charged with Burglary 1″ and bail was set at $75,000.00.
Unable to post bond, he was processed and remanded to John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice-of-rights hearing.
