Three Armed Robbers Remain at Large on St. John after Bold Daylight Heist

CRUZ BAY — Three gunmen remain at large after storming a jewelry store in a busy shopping area on St. John near mid-day on Wednesday, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a robbery report at 1:14 p.m. at Imperial Dynasty Jewelers in Mongoose Junction, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Three men entered the store with guns and stole jewelry, but also caused serious damage to the store, according to the 911 report.

The men left on foot headed towards Northshore Road, according to the VIPD.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that three black males wearing bandanas across their faces and hoodies, dressed in dark clothing came into the store with guns and stole jewelry,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said. “They broke the glass casing containing the jewelry with a hammer, took the jewelry and fled by foot towards Northshore Road.”

No one was injured during the incident, according to Dratte. The dollar amount of stolen jewelry is not known at this time, the police spokesman said.

Imperial Dynasty Jewelers also has a store on Main Street in St. Thomas at the Havensight Mall.

This incident is currently under active investigation.
