Man Wanted In Glynn Shooting Surrenders To Police Today

KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man wanted in connection to a mid-island shooting surrendered to authorities today.

Adonis Xavier Ventura, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau was asked to visit the Juan Luis Hospital emergency room on Sunday in reference to a gunshot wound victim, according to the VIPD.

An investigation revealed that Ventura fired several shots at the victim while in the vicinity of Estate Glynn, hitting the victim once in his elbow area, VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.

An all-points bulletin and a wanted poster was issued for Ventura on Monday, according to Dratte.

Ventura voluntarily surrendered himself to police at the Wilbur H. Francis Command in Mars Hill today.

Ventura was arrested without incident; he was booked and processed.

Bail for Ventura was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility.

He will remain at the Golden Grove prison pending an advice-of-rights hearing set for Wednesday in the Superior Court.
