Powerball player wins big prize in Georgia. Where was the lucky ticket sold?

ATLANTA — A Georgia lottery player missed the Powerball jackpot by a number — but still walked away a winner.

The lucky player won $50,000 after matching four numbers and the Powerball in the January 29 drawing, narrowly missing the $71 million jackpot prize, according to the Georgia Lottery.

A Demorest resident bought the winning ticket on the Georgia Lottery mobile app, officials said.

The numbers in the January 29 drawing were 8-12-31-33-38 and red Powerball 18, according to Powerball’s website. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.

There were no $1 million or $2 million winners, and no one hit the game’s jackpot, results show.

The next Powerball drawing is February 1 with a jackpot worth an estimated $89 million.

Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes and are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket, the Georgia Lottery said.

Demorest is about an 80-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta. What to know about Powerball To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
