CASTRIES — The Saint Lucia Cruise Port officially launched its redevelopment project in Castries with the demolition of the Customs and Excise Department Building on Jeremie Street, completed on December 22.
The initiative aims to modernize and enhance the island’s cruise tourism infrastructure. The demolition took place during nighttime to minimize disruption to the community.
“This is the first step in fulfilling our commitment to the people of Saint Lucia to transform and modernize the cruise industry,” Lancelot Arnold, general manager of Saint Lucia Cruise Port, said. “Our goal is to deliver a world-class experience, starting with infrastructure that supports our vision of growth and excellence.”
This redevelopment will introduce modern facilities, expanded capacity for two larger ships, a broader range of tourism activities and improved passenger experiences, aimed at boosting visitor spending and promoting sustainable economic growth.
