VIPD captures wanted accused rapist Jimmy Davis

FREDERIKSTED— A St. Croix man has been charged with the New Year’s Eve rape of a woman in Estate Whim.

Jimmy Davis, 46, of Williams Delight, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center got a report of a sexual assault that occurred in the Whim Gardens area on December 31, 2024, according to the VIPD.

Patrol officers responded and made contact with the victim who told them that she was sexually assaulted, police said.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau investigated the matter and met with the victim who stated that Jimmy Davis came to her residence and sexually assaulted her, according to police.

“She indicated that she attempted to defend herself however, Jimmy Davis overpowered her and sexually assaulted her,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

In the days since the attack, members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, Intelligence Unit, and Marine Unit made numerous attempts to apprehend Davis, according to Chichester.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jimmy Davis from the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands on January 17, 2025, police said.

On January 22, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m., members of the Special Operations Bureau, Intelligence Unit and Marine Unit apprehended Davis in the Williams Delight residential area without incident, according to police.

Bail for Davis was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Golden Grove.

Davis refused to be booked and processed by police. He is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
