Father-son drive-thru ganja hub shut down by SOB in Smith Bay

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A man who took his minor son to work — allegedly selling marijuana in plain view of police at a busy St. Thomas intersection — was arrested on drug possession and related charges, authorities said.

Kareem Harrigan, 35, of Hidden Valley, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The case began at about 6:20 p.m. on February 28, 2025, when officers with the Special Operations Bureau got a lead from the VIPD’s Intel Unit regarding illegal drug sales being conducted at the intersection of Smith Bay Road and Coki Point Road, according to the VIPD.

Officers conducted an inspection in the area and discovered and observed an unknown male who was identified as Kareem Harrigan sitting in the driver’s seat of a red Toyota, with the driver’s door open and smoking a marijuana cigarette, police said.

After approaching Harrigan’s vehicle, officers spotted an orange bucket on the floorboard of the driver’s seat containing several clear plastic containers of marijuana packaged for distribution in plain view and in the front passenger seat was Harrigan’s minor son, according to police.

Harrigan was immediately placed under arrest on the charges above, police said.

Bail for Harrigan was set at $13,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was booked, processed and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the St. Thomas jail.

Harrigan is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court.

His minor son was placed in the custody of his paternal grandmother.
