CHRISTIANSTED — Today St. Croix will be partly sunny with a brief morning shower or two and a high of 85, AccuWeather said.
Tonight St. Croix will be mainly clear with a low of 70, according to AccuWeather.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said a high risk of life-threatening rip currents is in effect for St. Croix between 3:25 a.m. today and 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.
Forecasters expect a long-period northeasterly swell to produce dangerous marine and coastal conditions across the Atlantic waters and coastlines in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today, the National Weather Service said.
Dangerous breaking waves will impact the north facing beaches from Aguadilla to Fajardo through this evening, according to the NWS.
The rest of the north-facing beaches of Puerto Rico, Culebra and the U.S. Virgin Islands will observe life-threatening rip currents through late tonight, the NWS said.
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic Waters through at least noon AST tomorrow, the NWS said.
Additionally, afternoon showers will elevate the risk of flooding, especially across the interior and eastern sections of the islands today, according to the NWS.
