Police investigating after man hit on head with machete at Brewer’s Bay

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating after a man was chopped on the head with a machete as he stood by his car on the west side of St. Thomas.

The victim reported that he was standing outside his vehicle, which was parked on Julian Jackson Highway, directly in front of the Brewers Beach, when the machete attack occurred, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The attack, which police categorize as a third-degree assault, took place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., according to the VIPD.

“The victim stated that a male suspect approached him and attacked him with a knife, resulting in a laceration to the victim’s head,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

The VIPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information regarding the suspect to come forward. Individuals with information can report it by calling the 911 Emergency Call Center or contacting Detective Eliana Rijo of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211.
