By JOHN McCARTHY / V.I. Free Press Staff Writer

GRAPEVINE, Texas — As of May 4, 2026, the arrest of Alainee Simonson has resurfaced in national headlines as part of a mounting “Crisis in the Classroom” sweeping the state of Texas. This case, involving a 2023 resignation and subsequent 2025 arrest, is being cited by child safety advocates as a prime example of the “delayed justice” often seen in institutional abuse cases. GRAPEVINE, TX — Tarrant County court records have confirmed the arrest of a former North Texas educator following a multi-agency investigation into allegations of sexual assault of a child and professional misconduct.

Alainee Simonson, a former employee of the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD), was taken into custody by Grapevine Police Department officials on Friday. Following her processing, Simonson was released from the Tarrant County Jail after posting a $25,000 bond.

The Timeline of Alleged Misconduct

According to investigators, the criminal acts are alleged to have occurred between August 2022 and February 2023, during Simonson’s tenure at Killough High School. Despite the severity of the charges—which include Sexual Assault of a Child and an Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student—the legal resolution has been years in the making.

Institutional Response Under Scrutiny

Lewisville ISD officials confirmed that the district, alongside law enforcement and Child Protective Services (CPS), had previously scrutinized Simonson’s conduct. While the district’s statement notes they were initially “unable to substantiate” an inappropriate relationship when concerns were first flagged, Simonson was placed on administrative leave during the inquiry.

The teacher’s employment ended abruptly in February 2023 when she submitted her resignation. The fact that criminal charges were not finalized until much later has raised significant questions regarding the speed of communication between school districts and criminal investigators.

Ongoing Investigation

Grapevine Police investigators currently believe that the known incidents are isolated to a single victim, though the department has emphasized that the investigation remains active.

This case serves as a grim reminder of the challenging reality facing modern education: a system where administrative resignations often precede criminal accountability by years, leaving communities to wonder who is truly watching the gate.
