Disturbance forms in Atlantic as tropical wave moves towards Caribbean Sea

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami are tracking two systems in the Atlantic Ocean, including a tropical wave that is gradually drifting toward the Caribbean Sea.

The latest disturbance being tracked by NHC is located several hundred miles south of Nova Scotia, Canada, and is classified as a non-tropical area of low pressure. Forecasters said Friday that some subtropical or tropical development is possible as it approaches the northeast of Bermuda.

But next week, as the system continues into colder waters, its chances of development will diminish.

Forecasters are also tracking another tropical wave in the southern Atlantic and said it could gradually develop in the next several days as it moves west.

Later this weekend, that disturbance is expected to cross the Windward Islands and enter the Caribbean Sea sometime next week. Its chances of development remain low, with a 30% chance of forming in the next seven days.

The Atlantic hurricane season ends November 30.
