CHARLOTTE AMALIE— A St. Thomas man was charged in the bedroom assault of his own brother, authorities said.
T’Juannie Harrigan, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence,
simple assault-domestic violence and disturbance of the peace-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The charges stem from a domestic violence call in which officers were dispatched to a residence, in reference to a male being assaulted by his brother at 12:13 p.m. Friday, according to the VIPD.
Responding officers were informed by the victim that while he was laying down on his bed, T’Juannie Harrigan came into his room and began striking him multiple times to his face with a closed fist, police said.
The victim then stated that a struggle ensued and Harrigan began to strangle him, according to police.
“The victim further stated that once Harrigan released him, he ran out of the room and called for help,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said. “The victim sustained a visible injury to his face.”
The officers also interviewed T’Juannie Harrigan and then took him into official custody based on the charges above.
Harrigan was then transported to the Richard Nicolas Callwood Command in Charlotte Amalie where he was booked and processed.
No bail was offered to the suspect in keeping with the territory’s domestic violence laws.
Harrigan was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the St. Thomas jail.
He is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Charlotte Amalie.
