MIAMI — An on-duty Miami Dade Sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized early this morning after crashing his marked car into palm tree, authorities say.
At around 3:25 a.m. MDSO deputies responded to a crash involving one of their vehicles in the area of Northwest 21st Avenue and 74th Street.
The deputy was going north on 22nd Avenue and struck a palm tree, causing the car to roll over.
The deputy was able to get out of the car with “lacerations to the upper extremities,” said Luis Sierra, a spokesman for MDSO. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the deputy to the hospital in stable condition.
Authorities have not identified the deputy.
