Several recalls have been issued in December by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) ahead of Christmas amid the holiday season.
Numerous public health alerts and recalls have also been issued this year due to potential damage, foodborne illness, contamination, undeclared food allergens or inspection issues.
Millions of Americans experience food sensitivities or allergies every year. According to the FDA, the nine “major” food allergens in the United States are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts and peanuts.
Below is a list of foods that Americans should be on the lookout for ahead of the holiday.
Cheese
- Charlevoix Cheese Company’s 8-ounce Mild Cheddar Cheese in Michigan is being voluntarily recalled due to fears the product is potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled product is sold in 8-ounce blocks, in clear plastic packaging and has a UPC number of 850056642057. The product’s best-by date is October 20, 2026, and the lot number is 13220025. The product is sold in Michigan retail stores.
- Happy Farms Shredded Cheese (31 States): Aldi brand shredded cheeses are recalled due to potential contamination with metal fragments. The listed batches cover various blends and have a Class II risk classification. The recall impacts the Happy Farms Shredded Italian Blend Cheese—1,900 cases—UPC code: 4061463330949—batch and sell-by dates: 0008922982 / 2/22/2026, 0008926344 / 2/23/2026. Happy Farms Mozzarella Shredded Cheese—UPC codes: 4061463330864, 4061463369413—batch and sell-by dates: 1500560016 / 2/8/2026, 1500562694 / 2/14/2026, 0008915062 / 2/18/2026, 0008921597 / 2/21/2026, 0008914480 / 2/13/2026 is also impacted.
- Face Rock Creamery LLC issued a voluntary recall for a select amount of its Vampire Slayer Garlic Cheddar on November 14 due to fears the product could be contaminated with Listeria. The FDA then issued a Class I risk classification for the product. The product comes in a 6-ounce package and has a use-by date of November 4, 2026, and a UPC number of 8 512222 00547 8. The FDA said the product was exclusively sold at Face Rock Creamery store in Bandon, Oregon, between 3:30 p.m. on November 10 and 3:30 p.m. on November 13.
Sweets
- A batch of Doughy brand chocolate chip cookie dough is under a voluntary recall and has a Class I health risk warning due to fears the product possibly is contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled cookie dough has a Best By or Expiration Date of July 4, 2026, and was distributed in 15 states. The recall was initiated on November 20, 2025, by the manufacturer, Hudson River Foods Corp.
- Silvestri Sweets Inc. voluntarily recalled Choceur Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark due to the potential for undeclared wheat allergen and Choceur Cookie Butter Holiday Bark because of a potential undeclared pecan allergen. The products were distributed in Aldi stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
- The James Skinner LLC is recalling Publix brand Maple Walnut Coffee Cake due to wrong ingredient labels on the product. The recalled cake was packaged in a clear plastic container, “then inadvertently individually labeled as Publix Raspberry Coffee Cake.” The recalled product is 14 ounces, has a lot code number of 5309, SKU number 54591 and was manufactured on November 5, 2025. The recalled cake was sent to Sourcing & Distribution Specialists in central Florida, then distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
- Lunds & Byerlys—a Minnesota-based grocery chain—has initiated a voluntary recall for a batch of its L&B Monster Cookies because the wrong label was applied to the packaging. The label used was for a Tex-Mex Turkey Wrap, which did not list the appropriate ingredients, which include peanuts, eggs, and soy. The recalled product has a UPC number of 18169-66862. The product was sold at all Lunds & Byerlys stores throughout the Twin Cities and St. Cloud regions.
Drinks
- 100% Appleberry Juice (California): Hollandia Dairy recalled 22,700 half-pint cartons due to possible contamination with peracetic acid (a cleaning fluid). The product was distributed to schools in multiple California communities. The FDA later issued a Class II risk classification for the recall on December 12. The recalled product is in a half pint and has a UPC code number of 0 27495 03679 6.
- Gimme! Decaf de Agua Coffee Pods (10 states): The pods are recalled because some pods marked as decaf actually contain caffeinated coffee, risking health issues for caffeine-sensitive individuals. Affected boxes have a UPC number of 051497457990. The decaf pods had a best-by date of 9/30/2025, while the Deep Disco pods had a best-by date of 10/15/2025. The product was distributed in FL, IA, MA, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, WI.
- Nuts
- Mellace Family Brands California, Inc. has recalled two varieties of unsalted mixed nuts, sold at Wegmans stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted, 34-ounce tub (UPC: 077890421314, Lot code: 58041, Best by: July 28, 2026) is impacted along with Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted, 11.5-ounce bag (UPC: 077890421352, Lot code: 58171, Best by: August 10, 2026).
- American Nuts, LLC voluntary recalled Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Co. Baking Nuts due to the potential for Salmonella contamination. The product is in a 20-ounce package, item #1840464, with lot code 307HMNC25L3, which was sold at the Costco Hawaii Kai warehouse between November 29 and December 4, 2025.
Meat
- Ghanaianway Restaurant and Grocery LLC is recalling nearly 6,000 pounds of fresh salted lamb products due to the absence of federal inspection marks. The recalled foods were produced from March 11, 2025, to December 3, 2025. The product impacted by the recall is packaged in 15-pound plastic-lined boxes showing “GHANAIANWAY AFRICAN FOODS SALTED LAMB (KOOBI)” on the label. The products were distributed to retail locations and restaurants in Massachusetts, Minnesota, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, according to the FSIS alert.
- Olympia Provisions, of Portland, Oregon, is recalling approximately 1,930 pounds of ready-to-eat holiday kielbasa sausages due to fears the product is potentially contaminated with foreign material, the FSIS says. The product is 16-ounces, vacuum-sealed in plastic packages, containing one, fully cooked “OLYMPIA PROVISIONS UNCURED HOLIDAY KIELBASA” with “BEST IF USED BY” date of “02/19/26” seen on the label. The product has an establishment number of “EST. 39928” and was shipped to stores in California, Oregon, and Washington and sold nationwide online, the alert says.
- Maître Saladier Inc. in Quebec, Canada, is recalling 6,000 pounds of Lorraine Quiche products containing pork because the product was not presented for import reinspection into the U.S., the FSIS says. The product is in 19.8- pound cardboard boxes containing “Lorraine Quiche (with pork) La Madeleine” in metal trays wrapped in plastic. The expiration dates are April 8, 2028, and April 16, 2028. The product was shipped to distributors in Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, and Texas, the FSIS says.
- Direct Source Seafood LLC is recalling over 80,000 bags of frozen raw shrimp, imported from Indonesia, and sold under the Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brands, due to fears the product may be contaminated with cesium-137, the FDA warns. The products sold at Price Chopper under Market 32 brand are in 1-pound bags with UPC code number 0 41735
01358 3, and best by dates of 04/22/27, 04/23/27, 04/24/27, 04/26/27 or 04/27/27. They were sold in stores located in CT, MA, NH, NY, PA, and VT after July 11, 2025. The recalled product sold at Jewel-Osco, Albertsons, Safeway, Lucky Supermarkets under the Waterfront Bistro brand are in 2-pound bags. They have a UPC number of 021130
13224-9, best by dates of April 25, 2027, or April 26, 2027, the FDA says. They were sold in stores located in CO, IA, ID, IL, IN, MT, ND, NV, OR, UT, and WY on or after June 30, 2025, the alert says. - Miscellaneous
- Grandma Belle’s Tomato Basil Soup (14 States): Recalled by Lil’ Turtles due to undeclared milk, which can trigger severe allergic reactions. The product was sold in 17-ounce jars from September 2022 to December 2025, and all lot numbers are impacted. The jars were sold in certain retail stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, Minnesota, Utah, Oklahoma, Kansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
- Lotsa Pasta Olive Oils (Kentucky): Recalled due to potential Clostridium botulinum (botulism) contamination. Products include Roasted Garlic with a UPC code of 736211448415 and Fresh Basil Infused Olive Oil with a UPC code of 736211448316, distributed only in Kentucky. The recall was issued a Class II risk classification on December 8.
