FREDERIKSTED — Police arrested a suspect in connection with the November attack on a woman jogging in Estate La Grange, St. Croix, authorities said.
Cleo A. Taylor, 39, was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted Murder in the First Degree, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, simple assault & battery, and disturbance of the peace, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The charges stem from a November 28, 2025 incident in which an adult female entered the Police Operations Building in Mars Hill “bleeding from her head and hands,” according to the VIPD.
The victim reported that while jogging along the shoulder of the roadway within Estate La Grange, an unknown female operating a white Mercedes-Benz had assaulted her with a bottle, police said.
Following the investigation, Cleo A. Taylor was identified as the perpetrator who assaulted the victim, according to police.
On December 10, 2025, a warrant was signed by an Honorable Magistrate Judge of the Superior Court U.S. Virgin Islands for Ms. Cleo A. Taylor’s arrest.
Thereafter, on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, members of the Virgin Islands Police Department’s Patrol Division were assisted by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operations Bureau to execute the arrest warrant on 39-year-old Cleo Taylor.
The units traveled to her residence and Taylor was detained without incident and transported to
the Police Operations Building, where she declined to be booked.
Her bail is set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, she was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Estate Golden Grove.
Advice of Rights is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands in the district of St. Croix.
The Virgin Islands Police Department continues its investigations into other incidents involving the white Mercedes Benz sedan.
