Cops ‘actively’ investigating shooting death of D’Andre Friday in Glynn

KINGSHILL — The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) is actively investigating a homicide that occurred on St. Croix on Friday afternoon.

D’Andre Friday, 25, of Mon Bijou, was positively identified as the shooting victim near mid-island St. Croix, according to the VIPD.

At approximately 1:13 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center, along with ShotSpotter technology, received alerts of shots fired near the Crab Queen establishment in the vicinity of Estate Glynn, police said.

Peace officers and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) converged on the scene, where they
discovered an unresponsive Friday “seated in the driver’s side of a vehicle with multiple gunshot
wounds to the upper body,” according to police.

Upon examination, EMTs determined that there were no signs of life, and Friday was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“This remains an open and active investigation,” police added.

The tributes began pouring in for D’Andre Friday after news of his death started circulating on St. Croix on Friday afternoon.

The Virgin Islands Police Department said it “extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of
the victim and continues to work diligently to bring those responsible to justice.”
