CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A teenager was arrested following a police chase involving stolen vehicles.
Janijah Benjamin, 18, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, grand larceny and auto collision, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Benjamin “was taken into custody in connection with an investigation regarding stolen vehicles” on December 4, according to the VIPD.
“Benjamin was quickly located and captured through coordinated efforts by the responding officers,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.
His bail was set at $25,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the St. Thomas jail.
Benjamin is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Charlotte Amalie.
