Mid-January brought a wave of food and consumer product recalls, underscoring how quickly everyday items can become safety concerns.
Over the course of just a few days, six separate recalls were announced, affecting products found in kitchens, cabinets and pantries across the country.
Together, they serve as a reminder of the importance of staying informed about what we buy and use.

Check your pantry: Chocolate bars from Whole Foods, Amazon may be contaminated
Raleigh, North Carolina-based Spring & Mulberry has issued a voluntary recall of lot #025255 of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar (2.1 ounces) due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
No illnesses or adverse effects have been reported to date.
The affected product has been available for purchase at online retailers such as Amazon and through other nationwide retailers such as Whole Foods, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom since Sept. 15, 2025.
Customers who have purchased the affected product are urged to throw it out.
Instead, they are encouraged to request a refund by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the lot code.

FDA expands cheese recall to 20 states: Throw out ASAP due to risk of serious illness ‘or death’
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expanding a recall on Pecorino Romano cheese that was first initiated due to listeria contamination.
The recall was reclassified as a Class I recall, which is defined as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” according to the FDA.
The expanded recall affects Pecorino Romano cheese sold in 20 states under five brands, according to the FDA:
- Locatelli
- Pinna
- Boar’s Head
- Sam’s Club’s brand Member’s Mark
- Ambriola

The recalled Pecorino Romano cheese products were sold in the following states, according to the FDA:
- Arizona

- Pennsylvania
- Texas

Customers who purchased the affected products should not eat them.
Instead, they should either throw them out or return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

330K Frigidaire-branded mini fridges recalled due to fire, burn risks
Curtis International is recalling about 330,000 Frigidaire-branded mini fridges because the “internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite the surrounding plastic housing, posing fire and burn” risks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The model subject to this recall is the 6-can mini-fridge with the model number EFMIS121 and a serial number between A2001 to A2310 printed on a label on the back of the mini-fridges.
The company has received six reports of the fridges catching fire, resulting in property damage, according to the CPSC.
The affected mini-fridges were sold in red at Target stores nationwide and online from January 2020 through October 2023 for around $30.
Consumers should stop using the mini-fridges and register for a refund at this link.
Before disposing of the unit according to local laws and regulations, consumers should unplug and cut the power cord and use a permanent marker to write the word “recall” on the fridge’s front door.
25K bottles of hair growth serum sold on Amazon recalled due to risk of ‘injury or death’ to children
Ruahouine is recalling about 25,000 hair growth serum bottles due to child poisoning risks that can cause “injury or death,” according to the CPSC.
The serum contains minoxidil, which is usually in child-resistant packaging to keep children from swallowing the poisonous substance.
However, this product was found not to be in child-resistant packaging and can pose a swallowing risk to young children.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.
The serum is packaged in 60 milliliter (2.11 fl. oz.) transparent amber dropper bottles.
The product was sold on Amazon from January to July 2025 for about $10.
Consumers should immediately secure the bottles and keep them in a place where children can’t reach them.

Adams Manufacturing recalls more than 6K Adirondack Patio Chairs sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot due to injury, fall risks
Adams Manufacturing is recalling more than 6,000 Adams RealComfort and StyleWell Adirondack Patio Chairs because the chairs can crack and collapse, causing fall and injury risks to the people sitting in them, according to the CPSC.
No injuries have been reported to date.
The chairs were sold in blue, dark gray, navy blue, taupe, light blue, lime green and teal.
The serial number “ML837-15” and the date the chairs were made, August 2025, are molded underneath the chairs.
The recalled chairs were sold at Lowe’s and The Home Depot stores nationwide from August through October 2025, costing about $25.
Consumers should stop using the chairs and return them to any Lowe’s or Home Depot store for a full refund.
‘Super Greens’ dietary supplement recalled due to Salmonella contamination that sickened 45 people in 21 states
A dietary supplement was recalled due to Salmonella contamination that sickened 45 people in 21 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to the FDA, the product in question is the Live It Up “Super Greens” supplement powder, coming in both original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates from August 2026 to January 2028.
No deaths have been reported, but 12 people have been hospitalized.
The product was sold online and distributed nationwide.
The recalled dietary supplements were packaged in green pouches and include the following products, according to the FDA:
- Live it Up Super Greens, NET WT 8.5 ounces (240g) with UPC 860013190804.
- Live it Up Super Greens, 30 – 0.28 ounces (8g) sticks, NET WT. 8.47 ounces (240g) with UPC 850077468063
- Live it Up Super Greens, Wild Berry, NET WT 8.5 ounces (240g), with UPC 860013190811
- Live it Up Super Greens, Wild Berry, 30 – 0.32 ounces (9g) Sticks, NET WT. 9.52 ounces (270g), with UPC 850077468070
Consumers are urged not to consume, sell or serve the supplements.
Instead, they may request a refund by contacting Live it Up at recall@artofenso.com.
They will want your name, order number and a photo of the product with lot codes beginning with “A” and stick pack products.
