ST. CROIX — Sources close to the 2026 Gubernatorial race have confirmed to the V.I. Free Press that Delegate Stacey Plaskett is preparing to abandon her seat in Washington D.C. for a run at the Virgin Islands Governorship.
The move, which has been whispered in political circles since Governor Albert Bryan’s final State of the Territory address last week, sets up a high-stakes clash with Agriculture Commissioner and former Senator Terrence ‘Positive’ Nelson.
While Plaskett has spent the last decade building a ‘Federal Shield’ for the islands, a run for Governor forces her to face the ‘Hard Math’ of the territory’s future. Is she ready to embrace the #SpaceX Refinery model and the 90% tax-cut logic of IRC 934, or will she remain tethered to the bureaucratic status quo?
With Elon Musk currently looking for a ‘Starbase’ that offers more than just a Texas shield, the 2026 election is no longer just about local politics—it’s about who has the vision to lead the USVI into the ‘Gilded Orbit.'”
