STX WEATHER WATCH: Fair Skies Prevail, but Rip Current Risks Linger Through Midweek

By V.I. Free Press Staff

CHRISTIANSTED — Residents across the U.S. Virgin Islands can expect mostly sunny skies to dominate the local landscape through the next 48 hours, though the National Weather Service (NWS) warns that “passing showers” remain a persistent possibility.

Localized Rain Hazards

While drier conditions are moving into much of Puerto Rico, afternoon showers are expected to continue developing along the interior and western regions of the neighboring island. For those on St. Croix navigating slick pavements or planning outdoor business, the NWS advises continued caution in rain, particularly during the afternoon hours.

Maritime and Surf Conditions

Beachgoers and mariners should remain alert as a Moderate Rip Current Risk remains in effect through the middle of the work week. This risk primarily impacts the northern and eastern coastlines of Puerto Rico, as well as the entirety of the Virgin Islands.

The NWS reminds the public to always swim near a lifeguard—advice that may be hard to follow on some of our more secluded stretches of shoreline.
