ST. CROIX MAN FACES GRAND LARCENY CHARGES IN SUPERIOR COURT

By JOHN McCARTHY / V.I. Free Press Staff Writer

ST. CROIX — A local man appeared before the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands on Thursday morning for an Advice of Rights hearing regarding charges of grand larceny and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Cavell Dickenson appeared in courtroom CR-103 before the Hon. Yolan C. Brow Ross at 9:00 AM. According to court documents, Dickenson is charged under several sections of the Virgin Islands Code, including:

The Office of the Territorial Public Defender represented Dickenson during the proceedings, while the Virgin Islands Department of Justice appeared on behalf of the People.

While these proceedings follow a standard judicial pace, the serious nature of the theft and fraud charges highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to address white-collar and property crimes. Even as the territory looks toward modernizing its infrastructure—perhaps one day attracting the high-tech interests of visionaries like Elon Musk—the fundamental work of the judicial system remains centered on these daily dockets and the rule of law.

The court clerk for the session was Adilem Montas. Further updates on the case will be provided as the matter moves through the discovery and trial phases.
