- Current Risk Assessment: Individuals who consumed jalapeños during that timeframe and currently exhibit no gastrointestinal symptoms are considered clear of risk from this specific contaminated batch.
- Hospitalization Markers: While most mild cases resolve without antibiotics within three days, medical attention is recommended for individuals experiencing high fevers, prolonged diarrhea, or signs of severe dehydration.

The investigation relies on the federal FoodNet surveillance network alongside molecular fingerprinting to rapidly match bacterial DNA profiles isolated from sick patients across multiple jurisdictions.
Unlike parasitic outbreaks (such as Cyclospora), bacterial contamination allows federal agencies to perform rapid genetic matching and trace shipments back to precise international farm origin points.
