Doubled the Payout with Power Play
CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A local U.S. Virgin Islands lottery player came within a single number of capturing a life-changing $375 million Powerball jackpot, ultimately taking home a $100,000 cash prize, Caribbean Lottery officials announced Tuesday.
The winning ticket, purchased on St. Thomas for the July 1 drawing, successfully matched four of the five white-ball numbers—2, 6, 26, 39, and 68—plus the red Powerball number 6.
While missing the fifth white ball cost the anonymous player a shot at the mega-jackpot, opting into the $1 “Power Play” multiplier feature doubled their initial $50,000 win to a cool $100,000.

According to Caribbean Lottery, automated validation systems immediately alerted territory officials that a major ticket had been sold locally, prompting a multi-week radio and social media blitz urging residents to check their wallets and nightstands.
The winning ticket was officially presented and verified at a Caribbean Lottery retail location on St. Thomas.
“This is an incredibly exciting win for the U.S. Virgin Islands and underscores that substantial Powerball prizes can be won in our community,” said Brian Gardine, Business Operations Manager at the Caribbean Lottery. “The player’s decision to add Power Play transformed an already impressive $50,000 prize into a remarkable $100,000 win.”
Winner Chooses Anonymity
In accordance with territory policy and local regulations, the lucky ticket holder has chosen to remain anonymous.
Lottery officials took the opportunity to remind players to immediately sign the back of all purchased tickets, keep them in a safe location, and always check draw numbers promptly. Powerball drawings are held three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
