CHARLOTTE AMALIE –– St. Thomas native Hannah Davis and Derek Jeter have welcomed their first child.
The 43-year-old MLB star and his 27-year-old wife are now happy parents to a baby girl named Bella Raine, born Thursday.
The Players’ Tribune shared the news on Twitter Friday writing: “Congratulations Derek and @hannahbjeter on the birth of your baby girl, Bella Raine Jeter, born Thursday, Aug. 17.”
The Über couple got engaged in October 2015 and were married in July last year in Napa Valley.
This February, Davis announced on The Players’ Tribune that the couple was expecting their first child, a girl.
“Derek and I will want our children to understand that the lives they’ve been given are so fortunate, in so many ways. We’ll want them to learn to help others, and to care for others, and to give back to the world,” Hannah wrote. “We’ll let them know that they are strong and smart, and that they can do anything they put their minds to. I hope they’ll be honest like their father. I hope they’ll be stubborn like me. I hope that they know what they want and won’t settle for less. And if they want to play baseball, well, we’re gonna have a little talk first.”
Earlier this year Hannah revealed to People that she and Derek weren’t quite in agreement on a name for their firstborn.
But for what it’s worth, the baby girl’s name is: Bella Raine Jeter.
The new parents won’t divulge the significance of the name.
Hannah hinted that she is hoping to follow Heidi Klum and Kathy Ireland into the world of a branded clothing line bearing her name, rather than more modeling or acting.
“I’m looking forward to getting new opportunities and seeing what comes to the table,” she told the Virgin Islands Daily News. “I don’t know for sure, but I can assure you, it won’t just be fashion.”
