CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police say a St. Thomas man beat a woman he knew after she refused to speak to him.

The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said that a St. Thomas woman told to the Domestic Violence Unit on May 12 that she was assaulted by Norman Bryan, 55, six days earlier.

When she refused to talk to him on May 6, Bryan began hitting her with a closed fist all over her body, causing multiple injuries, according to the VIPD.

On Monday, June 18, 2018 at about 12:20 p.m., police interviewed Bryan.

He was advised of his Constitutional Rights and placed under arrest for simple assault-domestic violence.

Bryan was booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing.

No bail was set as per the Domestic Violence statute.
