CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police said that two men were in custody following a shooting and carjacking in the Kirwan Terrace section of St. Thomas.
Police responded the call of a shooting and carjacking about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and found that a man had been shot, unofficial law enforcement sources said.
The man was apparently transported to the hospital via private vehicle, a black late-model Jeep Cherokee.
A man in a red shirt was seen (see photo) with black plastic ties around his wrists about 1 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Uniformed VIPD, National Guard, and forensic technicians were visible on the scene and eventually a law enforcement officer frog marched the man in the red shirt into the hospital’s emergency room.
Police on the scene stressed that the man was only being detained; that he was not under arrest.
The man in the red shirt and another man “may be involved in other crimes,” according to Territorial Police Chief Winsbut McFarlande.
“Those two guys are persons of interest in other cases,” McFarlande said.
