CRUZ BAY — A partially-decomposed body found on St. John eight days ago has been identified as the remains of missing man Mark Moroney.

Moroney, 70, reportedly disappeared during a Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) power outage on Feb. 11 that affected St. Thomas and St. John.

Police said that Moroney’s body was discovered in a steep and heavily-wooded area of Chocolate Hole covered with casha bush.

Moroney was a world-famous attorney from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. He told family members during the WAPA outage that he was going outside to get a flashlight.

Police investigators say that they have ruled out foul play in the incident.
