CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) will turn off the power on about 149 customers in Estate Richmond tomorrow.
The power outage is scheduled to take place on St. Croix’s Feeder 1A between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, according to WAPA.
The loss of power to that area will allow WAPA’s contractor Haugland Energy to upgrade the current wiring in the Estate Richmond area, it said.
In order to perform the work on the system, the area must be offline electrically. The work necessary to upgrade the wires is extremely extensive, and requires more than one day to be completed.
On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., service will be interrupted to approximately 41 customers in Estate Richmond, to allow for the Haugland Energy crews to complete the upgrade in the area.
Motorists traversing the areas where work is being performed on both days, are asked to proceed with caution, for the safety of crews and other drivers.
The authority apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these scheduled service interruptions, and assures customers that every effort will be made to restore electrical service as quickly as possible.
