Motorists Urged To Avoid Bovoni Road Due To Smoldering Fire at St. Thomas Landfill

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority said that the Bovoni Landfill
had a fire that was under control on Wednesday.

The Virgin Islands Fire Service and VIWMA contractors continue to monitor the situation.

The VIWMA will provide updates on any changes that may affect the public and haulers from utilizing the Solid Waste Facility.

The Authority will also continue to provide updates regarding changes that may affect public health and the environment.

Motorists are advised to avoid traveling along the Bovoni Road until further notice.
