ARRESTED ON ST. CROIX FOR ALLEGEDLY FIRING A GUN: JOSE MANUEL RIVERA, 18.
FREDERIKSTED — Police said a St. Croix man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly discharging gunshots in a residential neighborhood.
Jose Manuel Rivera, 18, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
At 12:17 p.m. on Tuesday, a concerned citizen called 911 reporting a discharging of shots in Mount Pleasant, Frederiksted area.
The caller said a male individual fired three shots in the area and drove off, according to the VIPD.
Police responded and upon further investigation at approximately 5:20 p.m. Tuesday the Criminal Investigations Bureau team were able to arrest Rivera.
Bail was set at $25,000. Unable to post bail, Rivera was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an advice of rights hearing.
The VIPD said it “thanks the community for taking a stand and assisting the CIB Unit in making this swift arrest.”
