VIPD: Burned Body Found In Toyota Camry In Tutu Valley St. Thomas on Friday

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police said they were investigating the discovery of a body of a man “burned beyond recognition” found in the Tutu Valley area of St. Thomas on Friday.

The body was found inside a burned four-door Toyota Camry about 1:46 a.m. Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The Major Crime Unit was dispatched to Tutu Valley to investigate the possible murder or suicide, according to the VIPD.

The male body discovered by police was found sitting in the left passenger rear seat of the vehicle.

“EMTs arrived on the scene and found no vital signs,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “The deceased was unidentified since the body was burned beyond recognition.”

This case is currently under active investigation by the Major Crime Unit.
