St. Thomas’ Ruben George Arrested For Throwing Girlfriend’s Cell Phone Into Gutter

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested after police said he took a woman’s cell phone and pitched it into the road.

Ruben George, 33, of Charlotte Amalie was arrested Friday and charged with destruction of property-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The woman told police she was at the Rum Hut in Havensight on Wednesday when George, who is a former male acquaintance, came up behind her and took her phone that was on the bar and threw it into the gutter, according to the VIPD.

George was processed and turned over to the Bureau ofCorrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute.

George said on Facebook he used to work as a chef at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Great Bay.
