19-Year-Old St. Thomas Man Arrested Twice In Two Weeks On Burglary Charges

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man has been arrested twice in two weeks on similar, but unrelated charges, authorities said.

Virgin Islands Police Department officers of the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Elieser Edwards, 19, of Building 8 at Paul M. Pearson Gardens on St. Thomas and charged him with first-degree burglary about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

This arrest stemmed from a victim arriving to the Criminal Investigation Bureau on Monday, June 10, 2019 at approximately 3:15 p.m. to report an incident that occurred on Friday, June 7, 2019, according to the VIPD.

“The victim stated that a masked male entered her residence with a firearm in hand,” VIPD spokesman Karl Caesar said. “A fight ensued and during the struggle the mask came off and the victim was able to identify Edwards. The victim sustained injuries that included bruising about the body and lacerations to the head area.”

After Edwards’ arrest he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

Meanwhile, Edward was also arrested for a similar-style robbery that occurred at a Vitraco Mall business in May.

Elieser Edwards was charged with first-degree burglary, three counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of grand larceny, three counts of second-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence and conspiracy to commit robbery at that time.

No official government word on any progress in that case.
