Make-A-Wish St. Croix Teen’s Dream Comes True Aboard Disney Cruise Line

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Croix teenager got a welcome home celebration worthy of any hero.

But Lowell Thomas, 13, isn’t just any young person on the Big Island. He struggles with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and survived a heart transplant in 2017.

Thomas recently returned from a week-long Disney cruise to the Bahamas with his family, courtesy of the local Make-A-Wish U.S. Virgin Islands chapter.

The Make-A-Wish young man and his mother Malika Boyd, were greeted by Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy CEO Dennis Crowley in St. Thomas on Friday.

Boyd said Lowell had an “awesome time” and was extremely grateful to the Make-A-Wish chapter of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“You could see the joy on his face,” Boyd told the Virgin Islands Daily News. “He had a lot of fun going on his first cruise. There were no doctors that he had to see, so he was free to explore and not worry about being sick.”
