Hospital Street Man Arrested For Motor Oil Vandalism Of 4 F’sted Buildings: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — Diligent detective work has paid off!

Police on Friday arrested a St. Croix man they say is responsible for the vandalism incidents that took place last weekend.

Jimmy “Tayi” Navarro, 46, of Hospital Street, Frederiksted, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Friday on a warrant for five counts of destruction of Property and five counts of being a public nuisance, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Navarro was identified as the individual who threw motor oil on the walls and floors of the exteriors of the office of the Delegate to Congress, the Supreme Court, Frederiksted Health Care and the Frederiksted Post Office between February 15 and February 18,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Bail for Navarro was set at $50,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
