CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man was arrested after police alleged that he raped a relative.
Makhi Tonge, 19, of Sion Farm was arrested at 12:47 p.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree rape-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Tonge was identified as the suspect who sexually assaulted a female relative,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
No bail was offered to Tonge as per the local domestic violence laws.
He was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
