CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Department of Public Works is advising the public that they will continue to see buses on roadways in the coming week, as the bus operator training has been extended until May 8.
The department previously notified the community that while VITRAN’s Fixed Route service remains suspended, the Mass Transit Bus Operator training would require buses to traverse roadways starting from April 20.
Although VITRAN will continue to provide ADA Paratransit services to passengers traveling for dialysis and medical care, the department was forced to suspend its Fixed Route transportation services territory-wide, to protect its passengers and employees from the potential exposure to COVID-19.
The department is urging the community to take personal responsibility and practice good hygiene to reduce their risk of contracting and/or spreading the coronavirus.
